The first thing we put in our bodies each morning has a direct effect on our energy levels, digestion, and hydration. For years we were of the ‘coffee first’ camp, but we’ve slowly shifted away from that, starting our days with a more nourishing and hydrating beverage that, of course, includes a healthy dose of raw honey. This elixir wakes up the liver, gently flushing out any toxins accumulated overnight, offers hydration to aid in smooth digestion, and gives your body a boost of immune supportive ingredients. We’ve found that with good hydration and a more gradual wake up process, our desire for coffee has shifted from ‘need-to-have’ to one of pure enjoyment in moderation. Whatever beverage you enjoy in the morning, starting with this elixir is sure to have you feeling more sprightly and refreshed.

Ingredients 

  • 16oz clean filtered water
  • Juice of 1/2 a lemon
  • 1 tbsp. fresh grated ginger
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 heaping tbsp. Wai Meli raw honey
  • Dash of cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring water to a boil and let cool for a few minutes
  2. Add in the juice of half a lemon, the grated ginger, turmeric powder, and dash of cinnamon, if desired
  3. If you can comfortably stick your finger in the water without it feeling too hot, go ahead and add in the raw honey
  • Note: this is to preserve all the beneficial nutrients and enzymes in honey - boiling water will alter the nutrient content and minimize the nutritive benefits.
Sip and enjoy, taking a few moments to ease into the day
